Introducing Calyx Wellness & The Benefits of CBD

The trend of marijuana legalization across the United States and other parts of the world has many eager to work with the plant in new ways and explore its potential for healing. Recent innovations in technology have allowed for the creation of a host of new products ranging from topical ointments to tinctures to suppositories and more.

One of the most exciting industry developments has been the popularity of the molecular compound cannabidiol, most commonly referred to as CBD. CBD is produced by the leaves and flowers of female hemp plants and is one of 113 cannabinoids unique to the hemp plant. Hemp is defined as any cannabis plants with less than 0.3% THC by weight. Because hemp has such low THC levels, it is non-psychoactive by definition.

This week, the U.S. is poised to pass the bipartisan 2018 Farm Bill, which will legalize hemp production across the country. Many hope that hemp will become the new cash crop for middle America, which has struggled to make profits as tobacco production has dramatically decreased. The 2018 Farm Bill will allow hemp to be eligible for crop insurance and open up trade and consumption across state lines. It removes industrial hemp and its extracts from classification as a Schedule I Drug according to the Controlled Substances Act, where it was interpreted as marijuana. Marijuana remains a Schedule I drug, which the US Drug Enforcement Administration defines as having “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse,” despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Industry analysts estimate the US market for CBD will be worth nearly $600 million this year.

CBD promotes a healthy and well-functioning endocannabinoid system, which helps maintain human health by setting the baseline activity levels of our immune and nervous systems. In numerous scientific studies, CBD has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of conditions that are caused by dysfunction of the endocannabinoid system, such as anxiety disorders, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, epilepsy and other seizure disorders, and chronic pain.

Chakrubs is always eager to introduce our customers to new options for healing and wellness and we are ecstatic to be carrying Calyx Wellness CBD tinctures and sprays on our site. Calyx is a small, woman-owned business that sources all of its CBD products from non-GMO mature industrial hemp stalks that have been tested and certified. They hope to build a well-informed community that will break societal and political barriers and steadily move CBD into the forefront of medical investigations.

We currently carry Calyx’s BoostFocusHeal, and Heal+ CBD Tinctures as well as their Calm CBD Spray.
